Biohacking: Risk, Regulation, and the Future of Longevity Medicine
Friday, October 9, 2026
9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

About the Symposium

This year’s Symposium will focus on longevity medicine and healthcare, a rapidly evolving field shaped by scientific advancement, regulatory ambiguity, and consumer demand. Speakers will discuss the rise of the “biohacking” phenomenon and the growing popularity of health interventions aimed at improving body performance and extending lifespan beyond medical and assistive product needs. Speakers will analyze the risks associated with treatments like peptide injections, cellular therapies, implantable and wearable health and medical devices, and off-label prescription drugs, in addition to disparities in availability and affordability. The Symposium will highlight the importance of developing stronger regulatory oversight and ensuring that innovation is both safe and equitable.

About Annals of Health Law & Life Sciences

Twice yearly (Winter and Summer) the Beazley Institute for Health Law and 量子资源 publishes Annals of Health Law & Life Sciences, The Health 量子资源 and Law Review of 量子资源 University Chicago. Annals contains articles of general interest in health law, which are deemed by the editors to make a contribution to the teaching, practice, and/or public policy surrounding health law. Past volumes have focused on corporate, regulatory, bioethical, and pharmaceutical issues, as well as patient rights and advocacy. Through this publication, health law students are afforded the opportunity to edit a law review article.

Advance Directive is an online publication of Annals of Health Law & Life Sciences, which is also published twice yearly (Fall and Spring). Similar to Annals, Advance Directive publishes articles that provide insight into the divergent areas of health law. Advance Directive allows health law students to write short articles regarding current health law topics, which are often at the crux of debate amongst legislators, practitioners, and academics.
