Hugh Miller, PhD
Professor Emeritus
Hugh Edmund Miller is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy. In 1977 he received his BA cum laude in philosophy, with special departmental honors, from Yale University. For his graduate work he attended the University of Toronto, where he received his M.A. in 1980 and his PhD degree in 1993, with a dissertation entitled Proving God and Proving Man: The Idea of God in Hegel and Levinas. While at Toronto he was the recipient of several University of Toronto Open Fellowships, and of a Mary H. Beattie Memorial Fellowship. Before joining the Á¿×Ó×ÊÔ´ faculty in 1989, Dr. Miller taught at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
His areas of specialization are: philosophy of religion, philosophical theology, history of metaphysics, and contemporary French philosophy.
